Buying Local not only ensures the survival of local businesses and family farms, but it offers a direct benefit to neighbors, community, and environment.  Local growers, restauranteurs, florists, candy makers, truckers, and consumers are all living and spending in their home towns.  In a rural community – as in any community – local spending is crucial to economic vitality.  Primary benefits include the retention of dollars within the local community; increasing local economic activity and impact; preserving small, locally-owned businesses; sustainable low-impact organic farming; lowering the carbon footprint; supporting the environment; improving community health; protecting agricultural land; and by helping your community take care of itself, you reduce the need for other communities to take care of you.
