Fay-Penn is working in partnership with other organizations to develop and promote a "Federal Agriculture Economic Stimulus Program designed to create a new generation of small farm businesses which will "kick start" and sustain the national economy.
This Agriculture Loan/Grant Program will create a new generation of small farm businesses which will "kick start" and sustain the national economy. This is a bottom up versus a top down investment approach for local communities throughout America. Local Farm Businesses (LFB’s), whether located in rural, suburban or urban areas, can become the cornerstone of local economies which are the backbone of the national economy.
Local Farm Businesses (LFB’s) provide a direct benefit to the community because material wealth is generated annually and locally where it benefits everyone. This will build a stronger economy. Local independent small business owners, family-owned farm suppliers, etc., will be able to create more local jobs and contribute to the national economy at higher rates.
As an economic stimulus initiative, this program is not dependent upon continuous government spending to generate ongoing economic benefit after the program sunsets. Each dollar invested will result in greater job creation and ongoing job sustainability compared to other government spending programs dependent upon annual appropriations. This program will continue to generate increased federal tax revenues for years after the program sunsets.
Quality food production is the foundation of any civilization. However being the foundation, its impact is often overlooked. Seventy percent of actual material product produced in US comes from agriculture. This program will improve national economic efficiency by bringing the consumer and producer closer together. By reducing food transportation, processing and preservation costs, this improvement in efficiency will increase the profitability for Local Farm Businesses (LFB’s).
This program is needed to reverse a 60 year economic decline in the agricultural industry that is beginning to have serious economic consequences locally, nationally and globally. Without a correction, it will lead to a deeper economic crisis at all levels.
