The fall foliage in the area provides the perfect backdrop for enjoying a day at one of the many farms for pumpkin picking, hayrides, and other seasonal activities. Southwestern Pennsylvania also offers an incredible place to be in the winter if you enjoy skiing, snow tubing, or just taking in the sights after the snow blankets the landscape.

Situated within the Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Fayette County offers majestic natural scenery and a diverse array of activities throughout the entire year. Fayette County is home to unique architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright, including the unique Kentuck Knob and breathtaking Falling Water. Additionally, you can take advantage of all the wineries, distilleries, and breweries that the area has to offer. The county also contains many historical sites like Fort Necessity for you to take the day and explore. When you’re planning any of these excursions, don’t forget to fuel up at the delicious bakeries and coffee shops along the way. You can’t come to southwestern PA without being a part of all the sports in the area. Here you’re close to colleges and Universities like Pitt, Penn State, and West Virginia University, each with their die-hard fans in football, basketball, baseball, and any other sport you can imagine as well as their professional counterparts.

Pennsylvania is committed to having a plethora of nature in the area for whatever activity interests you. The Laurel Highlands are home to 120,000 acres of state parks, where some of the world’s best hiking trails can be found. These picturesque state parks also offer opportunities to enjoy countless other activities - like bird watching, swimming, and hunting - while catching a glimpse of the area’s diverse wildlife. Accommodations at the parks vary depending on your interest too - tents, cabins, RVs, or even the popular yurt! Southwestern Pennsylvania is also home to an array of recreational sports during the winter months. Multiple skiing and snowboarding resorts are located throughout the area and offer activities for every skill level, from novice to expert. For those that enjoy the wintry views, but not partaking in the cold temperature, these venues provide comfortable places to enjoy a hot chocolate while watching the slopes.
