Air Service

Pittsburgh International Airport is located approximately 60 miles from Uniontown, the county seat of Fayette County, PA. Two primary commercial service facilities - The Arnold Palmer Regional Airport and Morgantown Municipal are located just a short drive from Uniontown - 35 miles and 25 miles, respectively. 

Highway Transportation

Fayette County is served by four interstates — 70, 76, 68, and 79 —  two major highways, 119 and 43.

 

Rail

Rail access throughout Fayette County includes Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad, CSX, CSXT, Norfolk Southern, Wheeling & Lake Erie. Amtrak passenger service is also available at the Connellsville station in Connellsville, PA.

 

Barge

The river transportation system in Fayette County includes the Monongahela Rivers as well as ports/barge service as part of the Port of Pittsburgh – a vast river traffic region in Southwestern Pennsylvania that spans a twelve-county area.

Education

An abundance of education institutions exists throughout and within close proximity of Fayette County. From childcare and preschools through public and private elementary, middle and high schools to trades, colleges and universities, options abound for every family's need.    

Fayette County is home to six school public districts, each of whom offer substantial public education to our residents. Many reputable post secondary opportunities are available for our residents, including Penn State Fayette - The Eberly Campus, California University of Pennsylvania, St. Vincent College, West Virginia University, Pitt, Carnegie Mellon University, and Duquesne University.

Healthcare

WVU (West Virginia University) Medicine - Uniontown Hospital, the county’s largest employer, and Penn Highlands Hospital, a community hospital located in Connellsville, Pennsylvania are both located in Fayette County. Additional healthcare providers in close proximity to Fayette County include Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, the Allegheny Health Network – with various locations throughout the region, Excela Health, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) health care system – with various locations throughout the region, including UPMC Magee – Women’s Hospital.
